Will 3D Printers Become Common In The Home?

One of the most exciting new technologies is 3D printing. It isn’t actually that new as it has been around since the early 80s but in hose days the technology was extremely limited and couldn’t produce much. Now the technology has developed considerably and there is no end to its possibilities. #D printers may soon make their way into the average home and common household and daily items could just be printed out!

3D printing is becoming more popular for industrial uses. These include the manufacture of joints and tissue for the medical industry, automotive manufacture, architecture, fashion and many others. STL files can be given to a 3D printing business by manufacturing company. This is used today for the manufacture of small parts.

A blueprint of the desired object is produced using computer aided design (CAD). This blueprint is sliced into many layers so that the printer builds the object up from the bottom to the top. The file type that 3D printers us is a STL file.

Although the technology has advanced considerably in recent year, it has not yet taken off for domestic use. It mainly explored my enthusiasts who create open source software and printing machines. Enthusiasts have manages to print a clock that functions perfectly, so there is no end the the possibilities of 3D printing. In the future many common everyday objects could just be printed out.

Development is also being made in the production of buildings by printing them out. This requires an enormous industrial printer but it is totally realistic. Printing homes and building with cut construction costs considerably and may also relieve housing shortages in urban areas. It is also much better for the environment.

It is quite possible that in the future 3D printers will be a part of everyone’s lives. Computer aided design applications can be made for the average computer user and be available for laptops, devices and even smart-phones. Imagine being able to just print out an item that you need, when you need it?
