Have You Lost Data Due To A Faulty Tape Backup?
By Kurt Russel_
Tape backups for the most part are not very trustworthy at all. They need continuous checkups and if they get the slightest bit of debris on them they will get broken. You have spent in numerous hours gathering info and information that is crucial to your business concern, imagine losing that information within the blink of an eye.
There are so numerous ways for you to backup your information securely rather then using tape backups. Tape backup is not always the best way to record your information fully, sometimes they even report it as a blank. If your primary method of saving info is a tape backup then it’s important you make sure that the tape has in reality been recording. It’s critical to make sure your equipment is kept clean as dirty tapes can cause numerous problems. If you have been backing up a lot of information, and the tapes are dirty then you might find that none of the data has been saved.
I suggest that if you are looking for a way to back up your information that you stay far away from using tape backups. There are more modern ways to save your information in these include, external disk drives, online backup or flash drives. With all of the umpteen ways to backup your precious data there is no reason at all that you should use any tape backup at all.
It is not very nice to find that your backup system have not actually saved all your files and folders, even though you religiously saved them for future use. And it wasn’t my home computer that this happened with it was my business PC and it caused me to lose a lot of my time and way to much money. Even after keeping all the equipment clean you can never be sure that a tape backup will perform in the way that you were told it would.
It would be in the best interests of your business enterprise to use some sort of backup system like an external hard drive or some type of on-line backup system. These are much better answers then using a tape backup.
A simple search on one of the major search engines will back up my theory that’s it is not just to me who has had problems with tape backup.
