With the increasing number of laptop computers, implementing or upgrading notebook computer memory is not as straight forward as some people would think.

When choosing from different types of memory, remember to choose one that is compatible with your notebook computer. When handling memory, you need to be careful because it’s a little delicate.

How to Add Computer Memory It’s important to turn off the Notebook and make sure it’s disconnected from any exterior power supply. If lights are still visible, double check for any live power sources before continuing.

You don’t have to take apart a Notebook computer just to add memory. To access the memory slots, there’s a panel that’s usually located at bottom of the laptop. When you’ve located the panel, you can open it using a screwdriver and view the existing memory. You can also do this to check the exact type of memory your Notebook uses because the front of the memory strips is visible when you open the memory panel.

The memory strips are locked in on the ends of the strips using small clips. If you want to remove the existing memory, flip the clips and gently pull the memory strips. If there is space available and you just want to add a new memory, then gently push it in to ensure it’s fully seated in the slots then close the clips so the new memory will be held in place.

Once you’ve added or replaced the memory, all you need to do is replace the access panel and screw it back into place.

To ensure that the memory has been read by the Notebook, power it up and have a look. It should count the memory and inform you about its access once the PC starts up.

If problems occur, what you need to do is repeat the procedure and check carefully if the memory is seated properly in your Notebook.
