Restarting A Computer Can Often Help Improve Slow Computer Functions

By Chris Oliver

Cutting a computer off can serve as a cure in itself. A lot of times I have told people to shut their computer down, give it a minute or so and then start it back up. And if it is still doing whatever it was doing, call me back. Probably 75% of the time I don’t get called back.

When a pc is turned off and then turned back on it’s like giving it a fresh start. It can then access the programs without any of the old files that were causing the computer’s condition. It only starts up the authentic program files until the computer operator accesses other created files such as documents.

The same thing can be done as well on an individual application. I have had to shut down and reboot a bookkeeping system several times. There is so much information and at times several work stations feeding into a server and it just needs a clean start.

What is really going on is the RAM or random access memory is all clogged up. As well as the virtual memory is scattered. Then you’ve got the registry posts as more programs and data are brought into the computing. When you restart the computer you clear out the RAM and virtual memory. You might say they are completely starting over.

We don’t usually find this type problem with notebooks. You turn it off regularly to take it home or where ever. But a desk top is another story. I’ve known of people that never shut down their desktop except when an update or something requires a restart. But typically this will lead to problems as the computer gets older.

Another problem we find is when a pc shuts down slower than it previously did. This could possibly be a signal of troubles ahead or perhaps just something to watch. If you continue having these problems after reboot the next easiest test is with a registry repair software free scan. A scan can give you a reliable idea of what problems you have before you have to buy anything.

Try this quick next step and do not waste any more of your time. Check out the Slow Computer info web site. The blog site is at: “remote computer repair site“.
