Several Reasons On Why PCs Freeze

By Lyndon Antinoro

There are many reasons that computers will freeze up. It can be anything from having too many programs running at the same to a malicious virus attacking the computer system.

If you are running a lot of programs at once while using numerous browsers all at once, the computer may need more memory than it has to process all these programs. If you do not have enough memory to run these at the same time, your computer will run very slow and often times freeze up.

People who regularly use many programs simultaneously should make sure their system has at least 2GB of memory available. If just using one or two programs, one gigabyte of memory should be sufficient.

Websites that are heavy on graphics can also cause a computer to freeze, even with 1GB of memory installed on the system.

Emails and websites contain more graphics than ever before, and they need a lot of memory to work right. For your computer to run smooth and without stalls, the computer needs more memory at its disposal to process everything. However, things like word processing software usually does not take a lot of memory.

However, things like watching movies require a lot of memory installed on the computer. With systems that have little memory, the movie will not play well at all.

Most of the time, computers freeze up because they don’t have enough memory on board to run all the programs. Keep in mind that in some situations, slowness can be from a website that you are looking at that is a slow site.

Not all websites are up to date and when one is found that has not been updated for quite some time, your system can freeze while processing the site. Additionally, a computer may freeze if that site gets overwhelmed with visitors at the same time. Sometimes they cannot handle that amount of traffic at once.
