Shaman Build – What Are The Shaman Builds

By Savanna G. Polan

Each Shaman build roughly paints a picture of how the Shamans as a class performs. The Shaman builds have three variations – each corresponding to a mix of specialized talents and abilities.

The Elemental Shaman The Elemental Shaman is the way to roll if you are a player who wants to squeeze every drop of efficiency in your character. This presents the ideal synergy between enhancement and restoration builds as it opens the path towards the Nature’s Swiftness which is very helpful in speeding up the casting time of some very useful spells.

This is also the build that is perfect for creating a DPS spell caster. Although not an excellent melee fighter, the Elemental Shaman certainly deals solid damage from afar. Among the talents in this build, the most notable are the Elemental Mastery, which essentially allows the character to cast massively damaging spells and the Thunderstorm which is quite infamous for its ability to hurl members of the opposing faction to the ground, and not long after that, to their death.

The Enhancement Shaman The elemental build if the build of choice for players who are after leveling; it receives extra boost on melee damage, healing talents and mana efficiency. This is the build often followed by PvP Shamans because it has the perfect combination of talents for dealing destructive damage. Its damage-inflicting abilities are so powerful, in fact, that it ranks third in the top dual-wielding builds in the game. Third only to the Fury Warriors, which are arguably the most specialized class in dual-wielding, and to Rogues. Useful talents to pick up in this build are the Stormstrike and the Thundering Strikes.

The Restoration Shaman Shamans are, by nature, healers, but the Restoration Shamans max out the healing abilities of this class. This is not the build of choice, however, if you are trying to make an optimized healer for PvP and raiding.

As the healing build, the Restoration Shaman can call on the strength and powers of the Chain Heal, which is arguably the best multi-target heal in WoW, the Mana Tide and of course, Nature’s Swiftness. Although it may not be geared towards soloing, it is, nevertheless, a performer in 5-man PvP and raiding parties.

Over all, Shamans are excellent spell casters as evident in the fact that they use totems. This also makes for an excellent class for offensive attacks and attacks sent from a distance.

For healer-type players, the Shamans also offer an assortment of healing spells, buffs and talents. Combined with good tanking abilities, the Restoration Shaman makes for a formidable foe and an excellent ally in any battle.

Regardless of the Shaman build, this build generally acts as the jack-of-all-trades in WoW. They are excellent damage dealers at melee range as well as in wide ranges, they could cast impressive offensive spells, and use healing abilities that not only restore the health of their allies but also resurrect them from the death.

Each Shaman build follows a different path, covers different talents and abilities, and dish out powers different from the other builds. To know which one fits your character best, check out the information presented on my website.
