Keeping Your New Years Resolutions and Tracking Time

Looking for some fun? Whatever you do, Don't Click Here!

We’re heading into month number two of the new year and wondering how you’re doing with your New Year’s resolutions? Is Abs of Steel still part of your morning routine? Is your diet piled with fruits and veggies? And did you tackle “Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus” so you could check off your mending relationships resolution? Have you kept your promise about prioritizing your time and actually devoting time to your hobbies and less time in front of a computer screen? Well, if you’re like the average Joe (or Jane), you made an honest attempt and while you successfully refrained from that second helping of chocolate cake last week you have failed miserably at keeping up with all the other resolutions. Here’s a tip to get you back on track: use a time tracker.

There are many reasons to use a web-based time tracking application but one of the most predominant ones is managing your time more efficiently so you have more time to dedicate to actually doing your resolutions. Maybe your list looks nothing like the one above but whatever it is that you’re resolving to improve upon, you will need a chunk of time to accomplish it.

With a time tracker, the days of time clocks, time sheets, and handwritten to do lists are behind us. Those had proven to be inefficient, inaccurate, and cumbersome. Replace that with the ability to clock in and clock out in real time on your laptop, smart phone, or even a landline and you immediately reduce the amount of time you spend tracking time. Fractions of hours worked, paid time off, vacations, and holidays can be automatically computed and tracked. This is huge! And since every company has challenges with overtime at one point or another, the proactive tools that managers and employees can use such as alerts and notifications, significantly reduces that costly problem.

How about custom fields? Experience the ease of estimating jobs, invoicing, and overall administrative tasks with custom data fields. The data stored within your time tracking software can provide you with reports that help make those important business decisions, especially when it comes to your largest business expense: human resource allocation.

Scheduling nightmares become a thing of the past. Managers can use the stored data to create schedules and set employee reminders to ensure everyone stays on track. It’s mutually beneficial for the employer and employee to see who is working on what, and for how long, and receive updates in real time.

You truly will find that so much of your time that was previously spent tracking, managing, and reporting your time can now be spent tackling those New Years resolutions. So, give a web-based time tracker a try and when 2013 rolls around you’ll already be ahead of the game.
