Wireless Speakers

By Andrew Tucker

Before you know it, you will not even see wired speakers on the market – this is the impact that wireless speakers have had on the entertainment industry. That being said, there are those who will be wary of this new technology, as change can come slowly to most. Their worries are not entirely unfounded – wireless technology is still fairly new when used in this manner, despite its presence in the form of radio for nearly a century.

Though radio has proven that wireless technology is possible, not many other things have been using the wireless option, and as such will still need to be worked through before everything is okay. No matter what, however, they can still offer you some advantages. To begin with, they allow you to place them wherever you like, compared to the limited options you get with wired versions of the same technology. Wireless stereos do not have to concern themselves with finding cords and wrestling to find a good place to set the unit.

What’s more, if you want to have an outdoor party complete with everyone’s favorite music, all you have to do is set up the speakers outside wherever you like, and you do not have to worry about anyone tripping on any cords. There are plenty of wireless speakers that are made to stand up to some punishment for these purposes specifically, though you might want to take them inside in the event of rain or some other weather phenomenon.

While they can stand up to a lot of punishment, try to bring them inside whenever the weather gets especially bad, so as to prevent damage to the equipment. Though they are incredibly durable, this also means that the sound quality can be affected if they are placed at a great distance from the receiver and the main unit.

With that being said, there are also options for wireless speaker units that have a much greater range than normal units, so if you invest in those, you should experience little trouble anywhere up to 300 feet from the transmitter. Some units even feature FM radio transmitters, which enable the speakers to even pick up their signals through walls, giving you even more freedom in that regard. You also have to think about the sound quality of these wireless speakers.

While you may want to think that wireless speakers have better sound quality, this is simply not true. Wired speakers, due to their direct access to the signal via the wires, will have better sound quality. However, you can trust that, if you keep the speakers at a relatively close distance to the main transmitter, wireless speakers can have just as good a reception and signal clarity as wired speakers. You just have to keep them in range, and you will be fine. If you enjoy the ins and outs of audio equipment, you should check out wireless speakers to see what they are capable of, and exactly how they are better than wired speakers, due to the new ways it opens up your home to crystal clear sound.
