Your Computer Network and Your Wireless Router, How Does it Work

Looking for some fun? Whatever you do, Don't Click Here!

Did you know what the router does in your PC system? Possibly not if you're like most PC users, we have a tendency to put our network together based primarily on the changes of our neighbour or the engineer that sets up your PC. But now that many of our PCs are PCs we don't need a technician for set up – we do it ourselves.

Routers are not just for offices and small firms or libraries where one or two computers are joined together to form a glaring network. Most homes need a router because this tiny device serves 3 vital functions that will enhance your computing experience.

A good quality router like the Linksys wrt54gs allows you to to share the Net connection that you receive from your ISP with other computers and laptops and phones in your office or offices or in your house. Just about everybody has a smartphone that needs a wifi connection as well as their laptop,

In addition you may need a router because, most houses now have a main P.C and probably 1 or 2 printers also. TVs and entertainment systems are now becoming part of the wireless LAN (local area network) in many homes. Your router gives you the power to connect printers, dvds, and other computing accessories and share their data on all these devices.

The third and possibly most vital function of the router is to protect and secure the information and devices that are utilising the shared network. Without the firewall built into the router your personal computer information is open to hackers and invasions.

As a DHCP server for your network your router stops Internet attacks and secures your data.Even if you have a software protection programme on your personal computer you need the firewall supplied by a router to protect your PCs. Unless you are severe about updating and working on your virus or spy ware protection it regularly has gaps in security that may be breached without a firewall.

I am an online journalist and author. I write articles and review products that I consider to be excellent and that I would like others to benefit from, if you found my article helpful visit my blog at WRT54GS wireless router or for more information and a great deal on wireless routers go to Linksys wrt 54g
