Portable air conditioners are a great solution for when you need to cool off efficiently on the go. Most people think air conditioners are big bulky units but that isn’t the case. Some styles are small enough to slip into a pocket or purse, and run on batteries.
There are even accessories that let you clip the portable unit to things. If you would rather not clip them to anything, you can let them stand on a table or desktop.
For tiny battery powered units, check out Frigidaire, Cooper, Fedders, and Sanyo. The up-front cost isn’t the only cost though, remember. You have to keep buying batteries for the unit, in order for it to run. If you don’t want the continued expense, look into getting a solar powered fan.
Once you have determined what functions you will need and therefore what style you want, you need to decide on brand. You have a bevy of choices here as well. HotPoint, Sub Zero, Whirlpool, Maytag, GE, Samsung, Frigidaire, LG, and Avanti all make excellent models.
With a portable unit, you’ll feel as cool as if you had central air conditioning but without all the cost and expense of having to have ductwork installed.
That’s only one aspect of a functioning kitchen, though. Remember, you still have to prepare food. If you want efficiency and adaptability, consider a toaster oven. These come in many styles including convection, microwave and mountable.
Of these two, a window unit is perhaps the better choice. When you have a window unit, it blows cool air into a room while simultaneously sucking warm air out. This is a double cooling effect. If you don’t mind having the window’s view impeded, it’s a good choice.
If you are outdoors a lot, staying cool is a bit more of a challenge. It’s especially tricky if you’re out in the sun. Misting fans are the perfect option. These fans blow on you while simultaneously misting you with a fine spray of water. This adds to the cooling effect.
