By Barry Petersen

It’s a fact that each day, we produce an alarming number of trash which makes our world even more unhealthy. Scientists were able to establish that non-biodegradable waste products are the number one cause of pollution. And the major detriment to the natural life cycle and vegetation are solid wastes.

Fortunately, experts are constantly looking for solutions to be able to reduce the effects of these wastes which resulted to the innovation in recycled rubber. A mulch can be used for many applications and these are made from old and worn out tires.

Rubber mulch is used these days as playground surfacing and, as such, helps prevent injuries by reducing the impact of falls. The best thing about these pieces is that they are non abrasive, non staining and non toxic. In other words, they are found to be completely safe for children. These rubber mulch can be turned into different shapes and can also be painted with different colors.

Rubber mulch can also be used as arena footing. A horse arena is normally built with strong flooring that can absorb shock to reduce strain on the horses. Rubber mulch meets this requirement rather excellently. This material also does not rot nor freeze and is non-toxic, making it an ideal alternative to a traditional arena that is too dusty or muddy. Most importantly, this material is not prone to insect infestation, thus, providing the horses with a healthier environment.

If you’ve been planning to beautify your garden, you may be take aback once you realize how much this would cost you. Homeowners are finding alternatives to be able to beautify their gardens that won’t involve a large cost and this can easily be achieved with using rubber mulch.
