Grease traps or grease interceptors are widely used nowadays. These are devices which are used to attract greases and other solids before they are allowed to pass through a discharging water tank. Usually, the discharged water of processing plants will contain small amount of oils and these oils should be eliminated before the water is passed through the chambers of the water treatment tanks because it might interfere in the treatment.

Some of the greases will form scum once they enter the waste water treatment facility. They are very slowly digested by the microorganisms in you tanks and so they grow very thick which will hinder the flow of water to the tanks. This is the very reason why they need to be pulled out or better prevented to enter into the treatment tanks.

The traps have four main kinds. The most common of them all is the one which are installed in the sink compartments of kitchen to remove those fats from water and foods. This type is mostly installed in domestic houses and small restaurants.

The next type contains a large tanks which is mainly constructed using a concrete or fiberglass. This type can store a large amount of oils and grease. This type is normally used in big restaurants and department stores. The type is commonly known as gravity interceptor because the mechanism mainly involves gravitational process.

The third kind is automated. It makes use of a power source such as electricity to function. It removes oils and fats from surfaces by applying a hydrostatic pressure on them which needs a power supply to operate. The good thing about this type is that it can easily detect greases through and removes it automatically leaving a particular surface free from these oils and fats. The capacity will depend on how big or small the machine is.

Another thing about this type is that it has a strainer on it which has the capacity to automatically remove the debris from the materials you are using in your plant. Enough care should be taken though because this has a lot of wires which may pose dangers and other forms of damages if not placed in the right place.

The fourth type uses biological enzymes to eliminate greases. The microbes will digest the fats and oils like they digest the other organic chemicals in the waste water. They will convert these fats and oils into water and carbon dioxide which can flow easily into the chambers for treatment and discharge. You may use this along with the previous type to lessen your cost for maintenance.

Grease traps or grease interceptors are used in most industrial countries around the world because of their importance. All manufacturing plants are required to have a waste water treatment facility. Thus, this grease remover becomes very valuable in the whole treatment process because it previously separate the oils and fats from the waste water in order to prevent formation of scum which will block the passage of water to the chambers of the treatment facility. In choosing particular kinds of traps, you may browse the net or simply contact the supplier to know more about each kind.
