The Recycling Process

By Laura Brown

Would you believe that the piece of trash you have thrown can be changed to a whole new and useful product? That is the magic that recycling can do. With piles of garbage that are being produced yearly on millions of households in the world, the landfill may not be able to hold anymore of those in the future. As a wakeup call, governments have been encouraging people are to recycle or participate on different campaigns and programs about it. This will help preserve the natural resources, save energy, reduce waste materials and minimize greenhouse effect which can lead to global warming.

Recycling process

Recycling is the key to ensure that our environment is healthy and can sustain the Earth. The process is very easy to understand and being aware about it can help every advocacy to achieve its dream of a transition to a better and safer planet Earth. There are three basic steps in recycling: collection, processing and purchasing recycled products.

First is collection, wherein waste materials are collected and recyclables are sent to a recovery facility to be sorted and sold to processing companies. The second step of the recycling process is processing wherein the recyclables are sent to a recyclables manufacturing plant where it will be broken down, melted or liquefied to make new material. The last step is called purchasing recycled products where consumers participate in the process by buying the recycled product and re use it.

Why Recycle?

Recycling provides heaps of benefits to the environment and humans that are living herein. If the recycling process becomes continuous, many materials will be saved from going straight into the landfills or incinerators. With the reduction of garbage and decrease in pollutants, it will make the world a better place to live in. Natural resources will be conserved and the next generation would be able to see and enjoy everything that the world has today. Other minor benefits are reduction of energy production, decreased greenhouse gases and a good economic impact as recycling creates more jobs for people.

There are different environmental groups that support and promote recycling. Joining them on their campaigns and advocacies would be a nice move for the environment. Aside from this, you can spread the word about recycling through Facebook and other social media site to create awareness. You can also take your part in the recycling process by separating the recyclables from not and buying recycled materials or products.
