Do not close your unused credit card account. The older the credit account, the better for your credit score. Credit repair does not mean you have to close your old credit card account.
Don’t miss your bill payments. Missing payments, or paying late, will lower your credit score. Never miss a payment since you can’t make up payments, or remove it from your history.
3.) Don’t charge things to your account that you can’t pay for. The odds are – if you don’t have the money now, or in the near future, you won’t have the money to pay off the item when the bill comes around. Don’t use your credit card as a form of delaying your payments.
4.) Don’t get sent to collections! Don’t have such terrible credit that you get on a debt collection agency’s call list. Debt collection agencies will become the owner of that debt, and will show up on your report. If you are on the list, make plans now for credit repair and get those debts paid.
5.) Don’t buy things you can’t afford. If you are using your credit card to pay for something you don’t have money for – stop. The odds are that if you don’t have the money for the item in the first place, it won’t magically appear.
Use your credit. Don’t avoid using your credit cards. If you don’t use your credit you will not have a high credit score. This can affect your chances of having a good loan approved in the future.
7.) Don’t forget the small stuff. Pay off your little items, such as old rental fines or unpaid gym memberships. These items will show up on your credit report, no matter how small the debt is.
Don’t give up on credit repair. Even if you have a bad credit score you can still correct the problem. It may take a lot of time and effort, but the results will be worth it.
