How Do You Delight Yourself In The Lord?

By Christa Destefano

Psalm 37:4

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart Psalm 37:4

It was our dialogue content last Sunday at Church, and I think it’s an excellent area to handle here as well. Exactly how do you “delight yourself in the Lord”? Solution: it is actually by using prayer! He would like us to come to Him with our worries and situations, desires and objectives. Men and women pray for a lot of a variety of reasons- and the wonderful thing about it is there is absolutely no “right or wrong” way! Whether you pray during the night, at Church, 12 times per day or once a day. Pray for advice, pray as thanks, pray for something that is in your heart!

Prayer is less about receiving something and more about changing into something.

Prayer is precisely what improves your bond with God. It’s what brings you closer. The more you trust Him with, and the more you rely upon Him, the more He will trust in you. It can be challenging to place everything before God and trust in His plan for you- particularly when it’s a different plan you might have for yourself!

Our pastor offered the scenario that his wife’s mother was dying of cancer. They prayed and prayed for her to be healed of her cancer. She was cured- however in the Kingdom of Heaven. Not the “solution” or “cure” that these folks were searching for- but she was healed and relieved of her suffering.

Delight yourself in the Lord and He will present you with the hopes of heart. You pray for finances- it could be found the shape of an opportunity. Pray for your husband or wife to change- you may be provided greater tolerance. You may not be prepared to change other people- but God can present you with abilities, possibilities, resources and goals to grow yourself and allow you to conquer those trials.

Provide a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for years to come.
