Discover How To Remove Charge Offs From Your Credit Report In Two Easy Steps

By Tim Beachum | April 4, 2009

There are a ton of ways that you could wreck your credit score. The biggest thing that can bring down anyones credit score is a charge off. A charge off is equivalent to A PC’s blue screen of death. Its something that everyone could live without.

I know this article may have started out a little gloomy, but there is a pot of gold at the end of this rainbow I promise you. Keep reading! By the end of this article you will discover how raise your credit score through the roof. With that image planted on your mind lets proceed to the first step shall we?

There is nothing that you can do until you first have a copy of your credit reports in your hands. Notice that I put a s at the end of reports. Thats because you are going to need a report for all three credit bureaus. According to the Fair Credit Reporting Act each and every American is entitled to at least one free credit report per year. Although I personally recommend that you check your credit twice a year – once is perfectly fine.

You can consider this the second step. This is when you actually have your credit reports in your hands. You will want to take a highlighter and highlight all of the negative dings (charge offs) on your credit report.

You will want to then write a detailed letter of dispute to each of the credit bureaus. Here is the catch and where most people make a mistake. When mailing your letters of dispute you MUST send the letters via certified mail.

You want to send your dispute letters certified mail because the receipt from the mail will be the only acceptable proof that you will have. Now the clock is ticking. The ball is rolling. The credit bureaus now have 30 days to investigate and respond back to you. If for whatever reason the credit bureaus should fail to do so by law they have to remove the negative mark from your credit report.

The average person fails to comprehend the importance of the strategy that I just explained. You could easily increase your credit score by over 100 points if you only removed one charge off. Do you want to save hundreds or maybe even thousands of dollars? How would you like to have more buying power? After all we could all use the extra buying power.

Take your newly found credit repair knowledge and free yourself from the debtors warehouse. Once your free be sure to free others
