Do You Need Long Term Care Insurance?

You may be one of the people that are getting older and long term care insurance may be something you are considering for many reasons. You may choose it because you have no children, or don’t want to rely on them for care or even just want an extra level of security with your health care. It can help you continue to remain in your home give you independence if you need assistance.

If you choose to start this insurance when you are nearing retirement age, you are more likely to pay a higher amount. It can also be a good protection against those that have a history of age related diseases to ensure that you have quality care throughout your life.

Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s may be age related diseases, and this insurance can greatly benefit those that have it. In many cases the reason for this to kick ion is the inability to perform 2 of the daily activities like dressing, bathing, getting out of bed or walking which traditional heal coverage may not cover.

There are two types of this that you mat be able to get. Once is a Non-Qualified Tax policy, and it is very uncommon. This allows you to be able to get assistance if you cannot do one of the daily activity for yourself, but you could be held responsible for the taxed portion of this care.

Tax Qualified is more commonly sold, and you need to be unable to do 2 daily tasks without assistance for it to start. You also need to have care for longer then 90 days without a break, but the services are not taxed and you will not have an additional bill.

You should use all the resources you have to come to the decision on which one is right for you. Speaking to an agent will be able to provide answers to questions that you have and give you tools to educate yourself on the different types and what is covered. Quotes are also very important since age and location can make them cost more and you want to make sure you are getting the best price on them.

Long term care insurance can give you a financial security net if you find you ever are need of this type of care. It can help you retain you independence without having to rely on your family. This may be able to let you stay where you want to be and the ability to live your own life.
