Dealing with a cough can be a major pain. A cough is basically a spasmodic, repeating contraction that begins in the thoracic cavity. - By mixing aloe juice with equal parts honey, youll create a drink that can help take care of a scratchy throat.
- Boil eucalyptus and mint together and inhale the vapors.
- Drinking ginger tea several times a day will not only help your throat but can also provide a nice alternative to sodas and coffee.
- Boil a cup of water and then add a teaspoon of turmeric powder and a teaspoon of carom seeds. When half of this mixture has boiled away, add a teaspoon of honey and drink the entire thing. Do this twice a day for best results.
- A mixture of raisins, water, and sugar, heated, can help with a cough if you eat it before you got to bed. For best results, mix about a hundred grams of raisins and sugar with a cup or so of water. Divide into fifths and eat one section a night.
- Mullein can help soothe your throat.
- Leave some orange slices in wine overnight, then cook them until they are quite soft and enjoy them for breakfast. Besides tasting good, they will help your sore throat and help break up phlegm
- Soak about half a dozen almonds in water overnight and then peel off their skin. Combine this skin with butter and sugar into a paste and eat it in the morning and before bed to relieve a dry cough.
- Eating grapes can help control a cough.
- Lemon is also a very effective way of controlling a cough. Combine it with honey to make a great cough remedy.
- If none of these foods sound appealing, take a hot shower or bath. This will help break up the phlegm. While you may actually cough more of this phlegm out right away, in the long run, your cough will clear up more quickly.
- If youre having difficulty sleeping, try putting a few pillows behind your back and neck. Sometimes, elevating your upper body can provide some cough relief.
- Drinking hot liquids may help soothe your throat, but be certain you dont drink liquids that are too hot. Burning your throat will only cause your cough to hurt more.
