The Worlds Most Amazing Gold Treasures

One of the most cherished of materials ascertained on earth, and has been throughout history. It is a mineral that has a stunning aesthetic appearance and yet is unbelievably practical too. Plus gold is known for being the safest store of wealth across the globe. Coming across gold hoards around the world has been a popular pursuit for many adventurers and historians through out the centuries. There are many stories of forgotten treasures available. Here a few brief tales of the gold treasures that are most renown:

The Treasure of Lima – In the 16th century Spain controlled Lima after defeating the Inca. During the next centuries the Catholic Church spent time collecting a huge wealth of golden treasures. In the 19th century however Spain were forced to evacuate Lima under pressure of the wars of South American independence. As they fled they took their treasures of Lima with them, reportedly worth $60,000 onwards. Among the ‘Loot of Lima’ the Spanish took two life-sized pure gold statues of the Blessed Mary holding the Divine Child. This treasure was eventually taken to Cocos Island off the coast of Costa Rica and buried in a cave by Captain Thompson.

Yamashita’s Gold – Or Yamashita’s treasure as it is otherwise known, is the golden treasures that were removed by Japanese in South East Asia during World War 2. The Japanese stole a wealth of gold and hid it in the Philippines within underground caves and complex tunnels. Many people today believe that the stolen goods are still hidden in their original burial situation, but as there have been drastic changes in the terrain they are now buried far underwater.
King Solomon’s Treasure – An accumulation of sacred artefacts pillaged by the Romans from the Temple of Jerusalem are concealed in the Holy Land, according a British archaeologist, Sean Kingsley. Others surmised that these prises are buried below the Vatican. Trumpets, the bejewelled Table of the Divine Presence and a golden candelabrum are amid the treasures.

Pharaohs’ Missing Treasure – In 1922 King Tutankhamen’s tomb was ascertained and disclosed that he had been buried with many golden riches. It was not just King Tutankhamen however who was entombed with many exuberant treasures. It was a known fact that every Pharaoh was buried with their worldly property. Many possessions however were stolen in tomb raids and it is conceived that one man Herihor may have applied orders for much of the acquired loot. Scholars desire to one day expose his tomb in hopes of finding many of the lost golden treasures of Egyptian Pharaohs of the history.

It was not just King Tutankhamen however who was buried with many extravagant jewels and riches. It was well known that every Pharaoh was buried with any worldly belongings. However many possessions were stolen in tomb raids and it is believed that one man Herihor may have held particular responsibility for much of the taken loot. Scholars hope to one day uncover his tomb in hopes of finding many long lost golden belongings of Egyptian Pharaohs of the past.
