Check out these two Christchurch Cafes

The Herb Centre; This peaceful location comprises an adorable corner cafe that provides mostly veggie treats (there’s a single meat-eating option on the selection…) and brews the New Zealand Coffee Awards 2009-10 Gold Award winning, New Brighton-based Switch Espresso.

Also, it is an impressively stocked dispensary/ health shop that carries a variety of natural supplements, organic body goods and every essential oil you can possibly imagine, a backyard garden and a medical clinic which offers midwifery services, holistic addiction therapy, and herbal and naturopathic remedies. Phew. It is fundamentally the only one-stop-shop for the granola sect within the entire city (that we know about, anyway…in case your business is one, too, make sure you e-mail us!). It is an alternative style cafe Christchurch must be pleased with!

The place, positioned on Kilmore St, is fittingly restful, having wood flooring, significant, exposed windows that shower the spot in angelic light, as well as the relaxing smells of lavender and patchouli. It really is perfectly distinctive (peep the lovable as pictures of dancing eggs around the chalkboard wall menu!) and the food is fresh and fantastic, try the GF, dairy free Winter Root Veg Cake, it was a hit within my partly veggie family. Come the summer season, I reckon the backyard will probably be loaded with revellers searching for a peaceful place to loosen up having a mug in addition to a socially conscious slice.

Addington Coffee Co-op; Found on Lincoln Rd, key to Addington village, Addington Coffee Co-op is a quaintly luxurious, all-natural light filled cafe and roastery that spins Blondie, roasts and peddles their unique brand of Fair Trade (and DELICIOUS) coffee and is like your living room (if you’re the kind of person whose living room has a pitch-perfect quantity of delicate kitsch as well as the most affecting ambiance in the street).

The business, encased inside of a big previous mechanics workshop, used 9 months to master and quake proof (which was fortuitous!) and it’s loaded to the brim at all hours having an diverse mixture of fresh neo-hipsters, chatty stay-at-home-mums and elegant looking suits attempting to get a comfortable location for a lunch break conference together with a high quality, freshly crafted slice, pastry or sandwich. Together with their very cool and sensitive use of Fair Trade coffee, furthermore they offer for sale “organic threads” created by survivors from the sex-trade in Calcutta

And so, to recap: the coffee is fabulous, the decor is remarkable as well as their company practices are morally righteous. Need I say more?
