Dinner Not Having Fry Sauce Would Be Unbearable

By Blake Jacobs

Sauces and dips can bring life to and elevate any foodstuff into delicacy standing for any state, place or snack bar. For most common boy or girl, it can flip an otherwise ordinary dish to a surefire household recipe and its cook, into culinary artist status. Usually, these memorable sauces turned out to be so exceptional and well-known that barely anyone would determine where or who it came from. An example such recipes would be the fry sauce in Utah. To distinguish how popular fry sauce is it in Utah, you can juxtapose it to how sushi is to the Japanese and kimchi is to Koreans and maple syrup is to Canadians. That is how essential and popular fry sauce is to Utahans.

To analyze the puzzle, fry sauce is simply a mixture of 1 part ketchup and 2 parts mayonnaise. Without it, French fries would simply be monotonous potatoes for the Utahans who eat it with nearly every food.

The fry sauce started out to be a local condiment that is claimed to have been made by the Arctic Circle Restaurant way back in the 1940s. Even though the restaurant is naught in imparting its unique hidden recipe, you can choose to create your own if you have interest in some experimenting and you do not like to purchase the ready to eat sauce.

The recipe is quick and can be created by any grade school tot. You would have to have four important ingredients to make this sauce: 2 cups real mayonnaise, 1 cup ketchup, dill pickle juice and salt for flavoring. Just mix the mayonnaise and ketchup together. Once fully mixed, you can include the dill pickle juice to make the blend to dissolve it a little and to provide that extra sweet-sour taste. You can simply just add the salt to tailor the taste of the sauce to your personal desire.

Throughout time, the sauce’s popularity has crossed borders as well as nations. There are a number of variations to the fry sauce and a lot of cases it can instantly be matched up or mistaken for the Thousand Island or Russian dressing.

Occasionally, the fry sauce blend is added with garlic or onion and instead of the dill pickle extract, lemon juice is added. Other sorts of variants have used cayenne pepper or Tabasco for a spicy flavor. You might also find variants that would sometimes have red wine vinegar, balsamic vinegar horseradish sauce or stone ground mustard.

If ever you are in Utah however, it is excellent to indulge in local tradition and fly off to the Arctic Circle (the one true source), Carl’s Jr., Crown Burgers, Hires Big H or the Apollo Burger. You can have it as take out or you can call the local Ogden catering restaurants would most definitely include fry sauce as one of its set of choices.

To experience is to believe–so whip up your own personal mixture of the fry sauce in your very own home and make your family and visitors indulge to what might have been another dull serving of fries. Who is to claim if this will begin elevating your culinary artist wannabe self to Rachel Ray standing?
