Juicing has been known to be a simple way to get the nutritional benefits of fruits and vegetables for some time. Every day, nutritionists tell us that we need to consume more fruit and vegetable products for optimum health. But after a while, you get tired of eating carrot sticks and oranges. Now you can get the nutrition you need in an easy way with your very own citrus juicer.

You might think that taking the time to juice your own fruit is time consuming and wasteful. However, remember how commercial processing affects the nutritional content of your food. How even supposedly one hundred percent orange juice is pasteurized and processed, thereby removing all the benefits you need in your natural or organic diet.

With a citrus juicer, you can capture all the benefits of your fruit and drink it too! Before you rush out to purchase a juicer, here is some helpful information that might help you decide what kind of juicer you need.

You could use a centrifugal juice extractor to prepare juice quickly. However, this kind of juicer extracts pulp into a separate container, which can make it difficult for you to add those nutrient rich flavor pockets to your citrus juice. On top of that, while you can eat lemon and lime rinds, it is awfully hard on your stomach to consume orange, tangerine and grapefruit rinds. Sadly using a centrifugal juice extractor on your citrus fruits reduces their nutritional content through oxidization also destroys helpful enzymes through the heat produced by high speed rotation of the juicer.

Masticating juice extractors are expensive, but are versatile. Not only can you use them to juice just about anything, even hard product and leafy vegetables, they can also produce pasta, sauces, baby and nut foods, as well as paste. Because of its slow speed of operation, it produces less heat, meaning less oxidation and more nutrition for you.

Traditional citrus juicers are just for citrus fruits like grapefruit, lemons, limes and oranges. They are inexpensive and have few parts. When looking for a new juicer, choose one that has several ribbed cones, of all different sizes to help you extract juice from the different sized fruit. You will want a juicer that will allow you to control just how much pulp gets into your juice. Pulp free? That’s okay. But for tops in nutrition, pulp is best for you. Look for a juicer that you can pour directly from. This way you don’t have to fiddle with it before you pour it, fresh, into your cup. Drink up! Good nutrition can be yours with a citrus juicer.
