A mobile kitchen is not a new idea. There is a large diversity in the applications for the ability to cook and cater to the public. Food truck manufacturers provide a plethora of designs to meet the needs of any vendor, caterer, or emergency response.

The vehicles can be custom made to fit any specific requirements a company or individual may have. Features such as size, arrangement, equipment are developed to meet the specifications of the order request. Another option that is sometimes overlooked is the access, this brings into question of placement for outside access and the differences between a trailer verses a truck.

Some of the equipment that can be found in a mobile kitchen includes propane tank, broilers, burners, griddles with grease drain, steam and prep tables, pot burner, and deep fryer with grease drains. Depending upon the needs of the server, there can be an ice bin, refrigerator, freezer, and beverage dispenser. These items can be mixed and matched to suit the meals being provided.

In general, the equipment selection is only from the highest quality and safety rated instruments. For durability and sanitation, stainless steel is the preferred material. When the mobile kitchens are designed, they are made to pass health code regulations.

Some of the bonus services that are offered by these companies include assistance in developing a viable business plan. Assistance in dealing with health inspections and interactions with the Health Department is also offered. The vehicles are developed with the focus on safety and operation in mind.

A mobile kitchen can be a very profitable enterprise and it is a bonus for restaurants hoping to gain more recognition. These vehicles also play an integral role in community service and emergency services.
