Burning Fat Not Muscle – Some Useful Strategies
By Bob Steele
If you’ve been rather sedentary most of your life but now you wish to get rid of some fat and add on some muscle then we have some wise words to tell you. If you are starting from scratch, then just ease into things rather than trying to do it all right away. Applying some major changes, like diet and exercise routine, in your life really quickly will usually be a big failure. Indeed, some people are able to just knuckle down and get on with things. But most people trying to do this all in one go will have a very hard time. So we would recommend that you ease in your dietary changes and your new exercise regime slowly by forming new habits.
There are two large components when it comes to preserving muscle and burning fat. There’s your diet that must be taken in a serious way. Then your actual routine for working out must be spot on for a number of reasons. Regarding your diet, you will need to take a look at it and make some changes when it comes to carbohydrates, such as removing foods that contain crazily high amounts of carbohydrates. But it is very important that you do not completely rid your diet of them. You can take advantage of a certain type of carbohydrate found in vegetables and fruits. When consumed they will be metabolized by your body for energy, so they not be used for fat storage.
However totally removing them from your diet isn’t needed. One other reason for not completely eliminating carbs is that it will be very difficult to get the calories you need each day solely from fats and proteins. You would be pleasantly surprised to see how fast and easily you can drop your weight when you reduce your carb intake. The effects of diets like starvation diets and no fat diets are well known by most. There are indeed people out there that think they must purge their diet of all fats. When going down this route you will probably not lose any fat. Fat conservation will occur as the body will realize that there’s no more fat coming in. So part of the trick here is to make the body, or brain, think that there is no need at all for fat. It is much like the opposite effect of the starvation mechanism. Your body won’t conserve the fat if it realizes that it’s not needed. So your body will not burn into the muscle stores but rather it’ll go after the fat stores.
Then you can do cardiovascular training, which will allow you to burn fat not glycogen. So give this a try for a while and see how you get on.
So, by eating at a quick rate you will throw your body off, resulting in you overeating because you don’t feel full right at that moment. You can reduce the chance of getting indigestion by chewing your food thoroughly. Also, there are enzymes in your saliva that will be able to digest your food for longer before it gets into the stomach.
When you want to burn fat, not muscle, then explore all the various methods and little tricks you can use to great effect. There is certainly a lot of flexibility with the overall process due to the numerous methods that work.
