Organic Foods-the the Natural and Safe Way to Lose Weight
By Bob Steele
If you want to lose weight, and you are concerned about the quality of foods you eat, then you should look into organic foods, because they need to conform to standards, concerning the use of pesticides, hormones and antibiotics. There is a large problem these days with people being overweight, and there is increasing evidence that processed foods are a big part of the problem, so using natural foods as part of the solution makes sense.
If you want to purchase organic foods, you can find them in almost any supermarket. Organic produce and other items used to only be found in health food stores, but now you can find them in large supermarkets. Unfortunately, for a lot of consumers, the only downside to organic food is the challenging price tag. Because of the high prices, learn which organic foods are the most important to be eating. Not all produce is prone to the same amount of contamination, as shown by research, some of it absorbs more pesticides than other kinds. Lettuce and potatoes are on this list, and so are cherries, strawberries, and spinach. You need to study organic foods to learn which ones are the most important to eat, so those are the ones you will need purchase first, if you are short of money.
A lot of people use sweeteners to help them lose weight, not even realizing these foods, which include saccharine, high fructose corn syrup, and aspartame, are not only harmful to their health, but actually causes them to gain more weight. The increased possibility of having a stroke is only one of the many health problems that have been linked to drinking low-calorie diet drinks. That’s why it’s sensible to look for organic and all natural foods rather than simply looking for foods that are low in calories. If you have ever been on a diet, then you have probably tried meal replacement bars, or meal replacement shakes, like other dieters. Some of these are better than others, but none of them are truly natural foods. Making food from scratch, that comes from organic sources, is much better for you, even if you will be required to do a little work. Natural, whole foods are the best for you, especially when compared to foods that have been enriched. That’s why people seldom feel really satisfied from meal replacement bars and shakes, as they aren’t quite real food. Organic foods are not only good for you, but once you find the right recipes, you will be able to make delicious meals.
When you are thinking about the environment, you should be buying food that is grown in the same area that you live, along with being organic. It requires a lot of energy to transport food, whether it is organic or not, so the shorter the distance, the better it will be. When you buy food that is from the local area, quite often it doesn’t have pesticides, therefore it is healthier, even when it is not naturally grown.
Becoming healthy is dependent on the food you eat, and organic food should now be included in that food. In many ways you will feel much better by eating natural foods that are nourishing, and you will also lose weight if you add physical activity. You may want to consult with your doctor or other health practitioner for more specific advice on what type of foods you should be eating, but organic is almost always preferable to non-organic.
