The Alkaline Diet Can Improve Your Health

By Kate Wheeler

Alkaline foods have become a common nutritional approach, but it is still not as popular as the low-carb diet. I believe it is a shame, for the reason that the alkaline diet can provide permanent fat reduction without the unpleasant side effects and health dangers linked with low-carb diets.

The comparative obscurity of this diet has induced many people to buy into specific myths about this way of eating. I would like to do my part to promote truthful knowledge about the alkaline diet by taking a critical look at these erroneous beliefs.

First, lots of people think that the alkaline diet means that it’s important to do away with all acidifying foods. In reality, this is not the case. The point of this diet is never to make your tissues as alkaline as possible, but simply to achieve the perfect balance between acid and alkaline components. For the majority, this will demand consuming more alkaline-forming food items and fewer acidic ones, nonetheless, this is not identical to saying that you must remove all acidifying foods.

Secondly, some folks assume that you simply must be a vegan or a vegetarian to be a success on this diet. In actual fact, it’s correct that avoiding animal products makes it less difficult to realize a correct acid-alkaline balance. Most people who find themselves new to the alkaline diet should scale back the amount of meat and dairy that they consume. It’s merely impossible to realize an ideal acid-alkaline equilibrium while eating big quantities of animal products. But this doesn’t necessarily mean that you will need to give up these meals altogether in order to achieve proper acid-alkaline balance.

As with many areas of health, the secret is to attain a suitable balance between different elements. It’s a concept found within the Ayurvedic and Chinese medical traditions, and the alkaline diet adheres to the same principle.
