Print medium even in this age is a very popular mode of disseminating information to a vast range of people. Over the years the printing services industry has grown by leaps and bounds and has evolved to its present form of a diversified industry. Today it can fulfil almost any need of the clients related to printing and its ancillary requirements.

Large volume printing services through relief printing technology started during the–00′s when the world’s very first printing press was invented by Gutenberg. In relief printing the printed image appears raised from the base, just as it exists in a rubber stamp. These days relief printing is not as widely practised and has very limited uses.

Technology has always been a driving force behind changes in printing techniques that have been embraced down the years. Modern printing methods are quite varied and come to a variety of uses. The sheer diversity of available options in printing techniques in fact greatly confuses the customers.

Of all printing techniques in the market today, offset printing tops the list in popularity. In this technique, minimum ink is used to print the image, which is first put on metal plates and is then transmitted onto paper. This method is most suitable for mass printing, as it is both quicker and cheaper than other methods in the market.

Evolution in printing technology has also introduced other printing techniques like thermal printing, that requires heating of coated thermal paper, and electrostatic printing, that is akin to photocopying.

However, digital printing is the latest technological innovation in this area. As is clear from its name, it includes image creation and editing on a computer, and then this computer generated image is finally printed after review. But this fast and trustworthy technique works best in cases where only a small number of prints is required. As this technique allows every single print to be customized it has resulted in some innovative uses like computer form printing, where documents like bills and receipts are printed on a standard format but with differing contents for each client.

The use of the internet in printing has been another huge leap for the industry. There are many firms in the market now, who permit you to order and customize prints directly through their websites, which is offering great convenience to the clients.

Printing has always taken quantum evolutionary jumps with the advancement in technology. The good news is that this trend of progress is going to continue unabated in the future as well, ushering in favourable advancements to improve performance and lower costs.
