India’s Finest: The Mahindra Tractor

By Mary Sadelwind

Mahindra tractor engineering had been driven with the need to feed a nation full of people. There is only way to go about making sure that there is enough land to cultivate for the purpose of planting crops that will feed thousands. In India, the toughest tractor was dreamed and executed in the form of the Mahindra Tractor, now one of the world’s greatest ever designed tractors in existence.

It is important, therefore, that a tractor should be durable in its construction with all the rough and hard use that it will have to endure especially when faced with never before cultivated land. It is important also that the quality of its engine should be durable enough to withstand the pounding that it gets when it is plowing, tilling, or even just aerating the soil itself. Most important of all, it is important that the tractor be affordable especially in the current global financial crisis.

M&M, or Mahindra & Mahindra, is an Indian company that designed the tough Mahindra tractor. Back in the 1960s, when it went into a joint venture with an American tractor manufacturer, the International Harvester, it not only gained the engineering of American tractors, but it also opened the biggest ever market of tractors in Asia. Presently, M&M is on the top three of the worlds finest not only in quality, but in design and sales.

The tough and heavy duty design of the tractor has long influenced the course of the agriculture of India, and now the company wants to extend the same quality to the world by not only expanding to China and Australia, but to Africa as well. With their great customer service, design and replacement parts, the idea is quickly gaining ground and there are high expectations to that effect.

There are some who really just want to buy used equipment like used tillers or tractors because of the lower price. Some even claim that with used tractors, they can buy two for the price of one new Mahindra tractor. This may be true, but the new tractor may need not much replacement parts in the next several years, neither will it need a lot of maintenance in the next several months or even weeks.

Before making a final decision on what to buy, make sure that you are specific with your budget and your needs. Compare prices of different distributers and find out if you have to spend more to make the thing work in the first place. It is true that a new Mahindra tractor and other equipments are more expensive, however, there is a lot going for them compared to the second hand ones.
