Common yeast infection symptoms include burning, itching, irritation and redness of the vagina and its surrounding areas. In case the condition turns severe, it can lead a swollen vulva and in a few cases women may even start experiencing painful and/or nonstop urination that occurs because the urinary opening has become inflamed.

If you are still wondering about what is the cause of vaginal yeast infections, then stop and find out more about Candida Albicans that is yeast like fungus which if it multiplies and proliferates will certainly cause the problem. However, normal amounts of Candida Albicans will not cause any problem.

It is only when this yeast fungus starts to proliferate that it causes vaginal yeast infection. The reason why this yeast fungus proliferates is that sometimes using certain antibiotics triggers the overgrowth. In other cases, the problem can also be caused by wearing nylon or even lycra stockings that will trap moisture as well as heat and so makes conditions ripe for Candida Albicans to proliferate. In addition, the problem also develops because of pregnancy or obesity and even because of diabetes, multiple sclerosis and PMS.

An HIV positive woman is at greater risk of experiencing a case of vaginal yeast infection and if she notices that yeast infection symptoms start to recur then it is also a sign that she must undergo an HIV test. In a few cases, vaginal yeast infection develops because of use of certain kinds of oral contraceptives and it can also occur if you consume too much of sugar, yeast and starch.

Remember also that the vagina is a delicate part of the female body that in order to remain healthy must ensure a proper balance of its micro organisms. Whenever this balance is adversely affected such as when Candida Albicans yeast like fungus) multiplies, the conditions will be just right for onset of vaginal yeast infection.
