Now, the discussion will center a little bit on Science. IgE antibodies are proteins produced by our immune system as our built in protection. These protein structures help protect us from unwelcome invaders in the form of substances or particles that can make a person ill.

So, for example, when an individual is sensitive to certain foodstuff, his or her immune system produces these antibodies in order to fight off the effects of the stuff that can make an individual sick. However, there are instances that the person’s immune system can go into overdrive and continue producing these antibodies although there is no threat of the allergens. Thus, an excessive amount of histamine let out in the bloodstream can trigger sensitive reactions.

Animal fur, dust, pet dander, insect bites, spider venom, pollen, and pet dander can be triggers for an sensitive reaction. Maybe you’ve already figured it out by this time that it is your allergy to animal fur that makes you constantly sneeze whenever your girlfriend brings her Chihuahua on your dates.

Allergies will have various symptoms, aside from the infamous constant wheezes. An individual’s sensitive reaction can manifest in a way totally different from that of another’s; it would greatly be dependent on the type of allergen that causes the allergic reaction. One of the most common indicators of an sensitive reaction is the slight itching of the skin. Other people will experience a breakout of rashes or hives. People with allergies should closely observe their indicators, as allergies could cause someone to undergo anaphylaxis, which is a life-threatening condition that induces the body into shock.

The following are some examples of known sensitive reactions to particular allergens and their general signs.

allergic rhinitis (hay fever): Most people who suffer from sensitive rhinitis will have itchy and runny noses; swollen, watery eyes; and nasal congestions.

Food allergy: The symptoms are a tingling sensation around the mouth; swelling of the lips and face; constriction of the throat; hives; and anaphylaxis.

Drug allergy: Individuals who are allergic to certain drugs can experience itchiness of the skin, hives, puffiness of the face, and, possibly, anaphylaxis.

The best way to thwart allergic reactions is to prevent the triggers of the allergy. Medications, such as antihistamines, can ease the symptoms of sensitive reactions. Some physicians would prescribe immunotherapy, or allergy shots, to combat the allergic reactions that do not respond to antihistamines.
