It’s fine to block your girlfriend’s irksome voice occasionally, but you may have a problem that needs to be dealt with if you are totally incapable of hearing it. You may wish to increase the loudness of your TV or your stereo, but don’t persuade yourself that you don’t have a problem if you cannot hear anything at a regular volume. Admit it, you are getting hearing loss. You better do something about it before it’s too late.

For those in the baby boomers stage, or those approaching the retirement years, hearing loss is not uncommon. A lot of people who belong in this age experience a decrease in their hearing capability. Depending on how grave the situation is or how committed one in doing something about it, deafness can be prevented or decreased.

Younger generations also experience warning signs that lead to loss of hearing. It is either acquired during infancy or developed as they grow up. And we all know how kids and not-so-young kids lose their hearing. Some causes include self-inflicting the symptoms on themselves, albeit inadvertently. Listening to loud music, unhealthy diet, and poor hygiene are just some of it.

If you already can’t hear anything, you certainly know that you’ve lost it already. Permanent loss of hearing isn’t acquired immediately, though. Unless one acquires it through an accident. You will get clues that you are approaching the loss of your hearing before it becomes absolute.

Symptoms you can expect involve hearing muffled sound. Perhaps you have trouble hearing your mother scold you, which is not really possible because she yells each word. If this is simply a one time problem, perhaps you are simply having a cold, an ear infection, sinusitis, or other malady. But this may lead to a permanent loss of hearing if you go through this on a regular basis.

Some people have a habit of turning up the loudness of their TV or iPod in an unbelievable level This may seem natural, but if you think that you increase it not because you like hearing things loud or because you merely got used to it, then you may be doing so because you have to. Perhaps you already have damaged hearing.

Another identifier is if you have trouble recognizing the main talking voice from the background noise. This symptom is one of the most distinctive symptoms of deafness. You may be in trouble if you have difficulty distinguishing the voice of the person talking to you from the rest of the room’s noise.

Also, you may be having problems with your hearing if you hear a constant humming sound in your ears. That annoying ringing sound that doesn’t seem to go away when you want it is called tinnitus. Many people who who tinnitus also lose their hearing subsequently.

Don’t hesitate to go to an ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat) doctor or an otolaryngologist if you are experiencing any of the above symptoms.. Don’t let the situation aggravate. Your condition may still be saved if you go to the physician early. In any case, an ENT specialist would know the best way to prevent or heal hearing loss. And even though not all are curable, hearing aids and other technology can assist you.

Consult a qualified ENT specialist for your hearing loss and allergy problems.
