Be considerate with office waste and use the recycling bins

Recycle bins are storage containers that can frequently be found outside many homes and work premises in this day and age. However, you will find that they are often underused, with the amount of people collecting and recycling rubbish in them is minimal. This is a growing issue for businesses as people don’t want to take responsibility for them.

When it comes to recycling, a collective approach is often the best way forward. If the situation is to change, everyone needs to be moving in the same direction. All employees need to contribute to this effort, by helping the environment and working towards the same goal.

There is a high volume of paper wastage in UK offices, even though computers are being used more and more in this environment. Important documents such as invoices, accounting and client data often has to be printed out, along with marketing materials and training manuals as well.

It seems like many companies are missing the point when it comes to effective recycling. Yes, they have the right kinds of recycle bins sitting outside their premises, but they are not being used as they should. A change in approach is required so the waste is separated into the different bins.

The time factor obviously has something to do with it as managers and their staff are so preoccupied with work stuff that what is thrown in the bin is rarely given any thought. Kitchen waste often contains materials that could have been recycled, which is a real shame.

With regards to the issue of recycling, it is up to the company to take the lead on this. People need to be educated on how to sort waste and where each type should be put. All those using the building should be able to understand what procedures are in place on the recycling of waste.
