Beauty Of Skin

By Leah Cherry

Taking care of the skin and goes back to early history. Records found of early Egyptians show that body oil was given as a form of payment. Egyptian burial customs reveal that cosmetics and grooming tools were extensively used in their society.

The most important way to take care of your skin and prevent it from aging is to protect it from the sun. Sunscreen comes in different SPF levels but the higher the number the better especially for the face. Protecting your skin from the UV rays of the sun will help postpone wrinkles and can prevent skin cancers such as melanoma which can be deadly if not caught in time.

Another preventative measure to keep the skin from aging is to not smoke. Smoking causes oxygen and nutrient depletion and damages the elasticity of the skin creating a rough, dry weathered look.

Essential fatty acids are also vital to maintain healthy cells. Salmon, walnuts, canola oil and flax seed are all high in omega 3s, the good fatty acids that help protect our bodies against inflammation and keep the skin healthy.

Keep your skin soft by drinking plenty of water and eating foods high in Omega-3s, such as salmon, or take Omega-3 supplements. Make sure you get plenty of sleep at night in order to reduce puffiness and enhance skin tone and practice some form of stress relief technique like meditation.

When choosing facial products make sure to determine whether skin type is oily, dry or combination. A three step routine twice daily of cleansing, toning and moisturizing with a once a week facial mask is ideal. Skin type changes every seven years so reevaluate your facial products as necessary to ensure you are getting the best care for your skin. Exfoliating products are ideal because they remove the dead skin to reveal the youthful glow underneath.

Receiving facials at a spa is another luxurious way to keep your skin at its best. Eating the right foods, staying out of the sun and using the right products will help make sure your skin stays youthful and vibrant. Taking proper care of your skin is not vanity, people have cared about their appearance throughout the ages in our history dating back to Ancient Egypt.
