Consider Using A Natural Gout Treatment

By Sean Prentice

There are a number of over the counter medicines available for gout. However many people would rather try natural gout treatment to help them. Natural gout treatments are not that hard to find and the majority of them can be carried out in your own home.

What is gout exactly? Gout is actually a kind of arthritis caused by an excess amount of uric acid in the body. The kidneys are the normal destination of uric acid. However the uric acid will sometimes get deposited in the joints instead of traveling out of the body through the kidneys. There are a few symptoms of gout which will include pain, inflammation and swelling of the affected area. Men are known to get gout more regularly than women.

Bad diet, being overweight and the consumption of large amounts of alcohol are some of the reasons why people may get gout. If you do not do much exercise and are stationery for most of the day the risk of gout is higher.

There are many natural gout treatment that can help to get rid of gout. Apples have been found to be good for gout so eating an apple a day will help. Eating 10 to 15 cherries everyday will also help stop gout coming back as they are high in vitamin C. If you want to you can take safflower in a capsule form.

Many areas in the body will be affected by gout. Feet are one area that can be affected. If you suffer from this try soaking your feet in some hot water that has a third cup of ginger in it. This will get rid of the uric acid through the sweating that happens. Of course you will need to wash your feet thoroughly after this soaking as the ginger may cause skin irritation once it has dried.

Lemon is another natural treatment for gout. As lemon is a very good source of vitamin C it will help in the eradication of the uric acid in any of the joints. You should drink the juice of half a lemon mixed in a glass of water three times a day. Of course you should also drink a lot of water. 6 to 8 glasses a day will be very effective in getting rid of the crystals found in the body and will help your kidneys stay clean and healthy.

The mixing of mustard powder and whole wheat powder in equal parts to some water to make a paste is another natural treatment. This paste should be left on the affected areas over night for it to work. If you want you can put some gauze over the areas with paste. Gout in the toes can be cured by placing two cups of Epsom salt in warm water and soaking the toes until the water cools. Soaking a cloth in warm Castor oil and then placing it on the joints with gout will also help relieve the pain.

It is not very difficult to find natural gout treatment and it is easy to administer. The only thing you have to do is find one that will suit you.
