Contour Abs And Get The Washboard Stomach You Dream About

By Nigel James

Most of us dream of having that washboard stomach which is so sought after, but it doesn’t come without hard work and effort. Contour abs by following a proven fitness and nutritional programme and you will love your new and improved physique.

Fitness programmes are available at most gyms and health centres and are usually created by a specialised fitness professional or personal trainer. Individual requirements are taken into account, such as base fitness level, training time available and desired outcome. On the first visit, you should be weighed, measured and have your blood pressure checked. Sometimes you can also get a body fat reading and cardiovascular fitness test. This data will be used to test your progress over the next few months.

A good exercise programme will include a variety of cardiovascular and strength training. Even if your focus is on your abs, you need to improve your overall fitness to see the results in one specific place. You should, however, have a good range of abdominal exercises in your routine, which train and strengthen the entire area. These may well include Swiss ball exercises which are known to be particularly effective. Your trainer will instruct you as to the correct performance technique and it is important you follow this to prevent injury and ensure that the exercise is having the desired effect.

Your trainer will probably recommend that you do additional exercise on top of your gym programme. Walking, cycling, swimming and aerobics are all great ways to improve your fitness level and keep your weight down. A very effective form of exercise which specifically targets the core is pilates, which can be done in a class or at home with a DVD.

No training programme is complete without good nutrition. Your trainer should advise you on how to make good food choices, but the basics are to include plenty of lean protein, fruit and vegetables, complex carbohydrates and water. At the same time, try to trim the unhealthy elements of your diet, particularly sugar, salt, alcohol and saturated fat. Home cooking with fresh healthy ingredients is far preferable to takeaways and choose healthy options if eating out.

Having a structured plan, with proven techniques and clear goals is extremely important if you wish to succeed. You may have the best will in the world, but without clear guidelines you are much more likely to lose motivation and drift.

With a firm, toned stomach you will look and feel better about yourself and it is worthwhile putting time and effort into achieving this goal. Follow a proven fitness and nutritional programme and you have a good chance of success.

A program that permits you to define and contour abs is a desirable part of any weight training regimen. For more details about sample exercises, visit the website at http://www.contour-abs.co.uk soon.
