Cosmetic dentistry implants can refer to a number of practices for replacing missing teeth in ways which both look natural, in opposition to partial dentures. Missing teeth have an extreme impact on both the way someone looks and the way in which they feel. While partial dentures have been the traditional solution, these tend to run the risk of falling out, and additionally, they limit the foodstuff one can eat. Cosmetic implants function in exactly the same way as natural teeth, giving you a second chance with a brand new set of perfect teeth that, when properly cared for, can last you for over 40 years!

What is a dental implant? There are three main kinds of cosmetic dental implant which your dentist will offer to you, all of which require titanium fixtures implanted into the jaw, to which the new teeth are attached. The most standard form is known as the root form implant. This is a screw which is sunk into the jawbone and becomes the new root. The tooth is then attached to this artificial root. Before the tooth can be attached, the implant must heal for a period of 3-6 months.

If the jaw is too narrow or has inordinate bone loss for a root dental implant, your dentist may counsel a plate style implant instead. As the name suggests, the plate form is a flat, thin implant more suitable to a thin jawbone. The healing time for a plate form implant is, like the root version, customarily three months to six months or more but some plate form implants are ready immediately without needing to wait through the healing process (completed in one step instead of two).

If neither a root form nor a plate form implant is acceptable, you would receive a subperiosteal implant. This implant is meant to rest between the jawbone and gum, and will typically require 2 surgeries to place. In the first, your cosmetic dental practitioner will take an impression of your jawbone, and in the second, your custom-made implant, designed from the impression, will be fitted.

For 3 to 5 days after the implants are set, you’ll be restricted to a liquid diet. You can have protein drinks in order to maintain valuable nutrients, but the great majority of individuals do lose weight. If you’re diabetic or have other nutritional concerns you need to talk about the procedure with your health practitioner first to ensure that you keep your insulin levels up and don’t endanger your health and well-being. Once the implants are established, you will feel as though you have got your natural teeth back again. Therefore, if you have missing teeth, cosmetic dentistry implants are the most natural, comfortable and permanent solution.
