The Fussy, The Intellectual And The Happily Married: Do They Have Sleep Apnea
Well, you may not believe this but our sleeping positions can tell so much about the sort of individuals that we are. Do slumbering postures indicate sleep apnea? These sleep postures probably don’t verify sleep apnea, but they do tell something else.
Apparently, persnickety is one who catches some Z’s on the side with one knee bended. The side sleeper who lies on his or her one arm is loving.
Mates also tell something about their relationship by the style they sleep: beware of spooning for it predicates one spouse is overshadowed by the other; those insanely in love (newly weds?) intertwine their bodies; and if there’s a break, couples rest far apart (is this more troubling than having sleep apnea?
Then, how does one know if he or she has sleep apnea? Among others, restless sleep, snorting, gasping or choking in sleep, loud snoring and excessive perspiration while asleep, foretell sleep apnea. When conscious, some other signals of sleep apnea may also be observed such as queasiness, muddiness and/or a parched feeling in the mouth. And sleep apnea need not be obvious in sleep only, as insomnia and extraordinary daytime drowsiness are among its symptoms, too.
Seeing as slumbering positions do not indicate sleep apnea, can these poses cause sleep apnea? Again, the response is “no.” Sleep apnea does not seem to be caused by sleeping positioning. Actually, one suffers from sleep apnea if his or her air duct is hindered by extra tissue. Sleep apnea may also be induced by enormous tonsils, a big tongue or a certain construction of the jaw.
While slumbering postures are not precursors to sleep apnea, they do disclose who you are and the status of your relationship. So, sleep tight!
Just in case you suspect that either you or your spouse is suffering from sleep apnea, it is highly recommended that you schedule a consultation with a qualified sleep disorder specialist. Doing so will not only help you or your partner have a good night’s sleep, consulting with a doctor can also save your life.
