You would think that knowledgeable amateur bodybuilders would know why dietary fat must still exist in their daily diet. However, I have known several bodybuilders well enough to realize they do not pay this too much attention. In fact, they work hard to eliminate as much fat from their diets as possible. To make matters worse, they do not take-in the right kinds of fats, on a daily basis, that their bodies need for maximum health. What they are doing in effect is depriving themselves of vital nutrients. The fact they train so hard makes it all the more important they receive proper nutrition, as well.

It’s common knowledge that there are some fats that are better for us than others. All of us, including bodybuilders, should focus on their intake of unsaturated fats over the consumption of less healthy saturated fats. We already know that our bodies lack the ability to produce Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids.

The Omega acids are often referred to as, Essential Fatty Acids or EFA’s. Omega 3 fatty acids are polyunsaturated and are abundant in wild fish such as tuna and salmon. Other sources include flax seeds, walnuts, kiwi fruit and certain meats. Omega 3 fatty acids support cardiovascular health as well as brain function and health.

It is easy for inexperienced bodybuilders to get off on the wrong foot when it comes to fats in a proper diet. The most common mistakes is to avoid as much fat as possible. The typical mindset is that approach will decrease excess fat and enhance physical development.

By failing to understanding the underlying factors, the body builder only hinders their own progress. The appropriate course of action is to make sure you are getting the right fats in just the right proportions. Maintaining overall wellness and proper muscle growth depends on that.

Someone wanting to become a successful body builder should keep in mind the following. Refine your workouts to target muscle growth and maximize fat burning.

The second important component in the winning mindset is to keep all the bodily functions working at a peak level. Dietary fats are crucial because in many ways, for example, many hormones such as steroidal hormones have a fat component. Cholesterol is a fat containing molecule and lipids, which are fats, are used everywhere in the body. The last thing you want to do is remove all fats from your diet. Training hard in a chronic state of total fat deprivation is running against the clock and will catch up to you. If you are just starting out with bodybuilding, dietary fat intake is critical due to the added stress placed on your body. So it is imperative that you educate yourself, and be very sure you check sources and use reliable information. It all depends on how serious you are about the sport. You can be very dedicated and have no desire to compete and that is your choice. But if you are going to work that hard to get the body you want, then it only makes sense that you become as efficient as possible.
