Our Eating Habits Can Make Or Break Our Health

Today’s fast paced society that we live in has given us lifestyle diseases and problems. Obesity is one of the nagging problems faced by majority of people in our society. How many of us watch what we eat?

Any doctor will tell you that eating fish is very healthy. The omega 3 fatty acids contained in the body of the fish are good for our health.

If you wish to order sushi, choose a dish that does not contain the other items like cheese, mayonnaise and sauces etc. Use herbs and natural seasoning on the sushi to make it a healthy choice.

Some of the sushi preparations are steeped with oil and fat which is something one must avoid. Hence it is advisable to stick to very minimalist seasoning and simple preparation of sushi or tuna salad etc.

Many of us have the habit of snacking on dry fruits and dried fruits. We believe dried fruits are as good as fresh fruits and contain the same nutritional values. This need not be true, for the fruits are processes with additional ingredients and sugar, which makes it heavier on the calorie value. It is always a best option to opt for fresh fruit wherever it is easily available.

Making your own granola bar is always a better idea than buying a ready made one, which contains added sugar and gives you more calories. It is easy to make your own recipe using oats, wheat germ, nuts, raisins and other ingredients as per your taste and liking.

The fans of veggie burgers who swear by it need to also know that the burger can give them more calories than required as it contains cheese and other sauces that contain fat.

Veggie burgers may not be as bad as meat burgers in terms of the fat content and other harmful substances. However the additional calories are on account of the cheese and the sauce used in dressing.

Eating right is the key to feeling good. So choose healthy foods, which may not necessarily be good to your taste buds but are good for your body.
