P90X Workout System – Can You Build Muscles And Lose Weight?

By Aaron Piertzen

Created by Beach Body, P90X is a weight loss system that claims to get your body from “regular to ripped in just 90 days.” There are several parts to the system that some may find unique in the weight loss product field. The system contains a 3 phase nutrition plan, 12 workout routines that you watch on DVDs, supplement options, a calendar to track your progress, a fitness guide, and online support. Tony Horton is the “personal trainer” for the program.

The exercise programs that are integrated into the P90X are named after different muscle groups. They are the Chest and Back, Shoulders and Arms, Yoga X, Cardio X, Plyometrics, Legs and Back, Kenpo X, Shoulders and Triceps, Chest, Back and Biceps, Core Synergistics, Ab Ripper X, and X Stretch. Each program affects a different region of your body and works a different muscle group. You will also need resistance bands or dumbbells and a pull-up bar or a place to do pull-ups in addition to the DVDs. It is only meant to be carried out for an hour each day. This may be less overwhelming as some programs when it comes to length.

In addition to being an exercise program, the P90X system basically coaches a complete lifestyle adjustment. In order for you to get the most out of it strongly guides you to pay careful notice of your diet. The P90X 3-Phase Nutrition Plan is planned to facilitate fat loss while helping you keep a high level of energy.

Sometimes, exercise programs that have strict routines can actually be counterproductive. The trick to excelling in this program is to use the various exercises which help keep the different muscle groups doing as many different things as possible. The theory is that by doing this, there is no plateau effect so the muscles do not get used to the different routines and will thus be able to develop.

The different intense and diverse workouts are designed to help you do everything from improve your athletic performance to enhance your physique and calm your mind. Emphasis is placed on building muscles in addition to toning the ones that you already have. Cardio routines help burn calories while the new muscles that you build will also help burn calories faster, too.

Even though it only takes an hour, it must be said that the program is very demanding. Although it is intended to help you lose weight, and the majority of reviewers concur that it certainly helped in this department, it may not be the best option for those that have injuries or are extremely overweight since it is so challenging.

The system does have a 100% 90-day satisfaction guarantee so if you’re dissatisfied with it you don’t have to keep it. It does take around 90 days of use, however, before you see the full effects. The unique workout plan, money-back guarantee and the diet guide have helped people take notice of the P90X as an all-encompassing workout system.
