The first thing you should do if you want a facial mole removed is make an appointment with a doctor. He will check to see if the mole is benign or not then he will also check to see if the mole can in fact be removed.

There are many methods of mole removal but your doctor will pick the best method for your case in particular. He will look at the size and depth of the mole among other things to choose which method or removal will work best. If surgical removal is necessary then a cut will be around the mole area. Then if the mole is shallow stitches will be on the outside otherwise they will be on the inside.

A second method of facial mole removal is a procedure, which shaves off the mole with a scalpel. Once the mole is flush with the skin, then the area is electrically cauterized to stop bleeding. The mole can grow back if there are any mole cells left underneath the skin. There are no stitches necessary for this type of facial mole removal.

Facial moles can also be removed with laser removal. The ray kills the mole cells and prevents cells from growing back. Laser mole removal works best on moles that are shallow in the skin.

You don’t need a lot of time for facial mole removal. The time necessary for the procedure usually is no more than an hour. If there are several moles removed it may take longer. You may find that redness and some pain or discomfort come from the procedure and take the rest of the day off work. The amount of discomfort depends on the method used and size of the facial mole. The doctor usually prescribes pain medication for the discomfort.

Scars can sometimes happen after facial mole removal. Talk to your doctor if you have scarring and he will recommend the best way to have these taken care of.
