Finally, Palo Alto Headache Problems Helped By Chiropractic Therapy

By Clayton Lafromboise

Even if you have suffered from headaches for many years, you may find that a Palo Alto chiropractic clinic is able to solve your headache problem. The techniques used by the chiropractic doctor can help to prevent bones of the neck from pressing on nerves which is often the cause of headaches. While these procedures may not help every headache, many sufferers have found relief from many years of suffering.

The vertebral column, also called the spine or back bone consists of thirty three vertebrae. It has three normal curves that help to support the body. The uppermost curve or cervical curve is a convex forward curve. The cervical spine is formed with seven vertebrae. Doctors refer to these bones as C1 to C7 with C1 being at the top of the spine. C1 vertebrae is also called the atlas since it supports the head, while C2 is the axis. If any of these seven bones are out of alignment, they may cause a headache.

The tower of the vertebral column is an excellent feat of engineering. Bone, muscle and connective tissue give the body a wide range of movement and flexibility. You can bend over, stretch and flex the body into any number of positions. The spine allows for movement that keeps your balance when you are moving. The bad news is that this same engineering feat may be injured. If the cervical spine is injured, the pain may be felt as a headache.

A doctor of chiropractic is able to manipulate the spine back into position. Once the spine is where it should be, the muscles can begin to relax and blood can flow to the region once again. The increased blood flow brings nutrients and removes toxins to promote healing of the injury.

When the vertebral column is in its normal position, nerves from the spinal cord pass through the openings between the vertebrae without incident. When it is misaligned, the bones can pinch or press on the nerve. Like an accident on a freeway cause vehicles to back up, this pressing on the nerve can interfere with signals being sent from the brain to the rest of the body. Your body responds to let you know something is wrong with pain, and in the case of the cervical spine, this pain is often a headache.

If you are ready to stop your headaches, the Palo Alto chiropractic therapy may help. Once your cervical spine is back to normal, healing can start and the pain can end. This therapy could make headaches a thing of the past.
