You need to wash it regularly – at least thrice a day with lukewarm water. You need to reside in a clean environment, one that is devoid of dust particles, etc. This can only be achieved by being very cautious in the pillows you use, the bed sheets you use, etc.
You should also avoid putting up too much makeup as that may effect your skin adversely too. In case you have to, you should try and remove it before you go to bed.
Would that be enough? No, that would be good for a start but not enough in and of itself. There are other areas of your life that need some changes as well. Start with diets. Stop eating dairy products, or products that have excessive oil. These tend to damage your skin which is the last thing you want. If you cannot resist oily foods, it is advisable that you consult a dietician for more info on what to avoid or how to get rid of acne by being on a different diet.
A doctor, needless to say, is your best option – he can tell you things that a generic article like this won’t. He may suggest some dietary changes, or some creams that you would have to apply to your face. You need to look at what he recommends and then follow it to the letter.
Most importantly, you need to keep doing whatever you are doing consistently. Set your expectations right and don’t let slow progress hamper your enthusiasm and confidence to get results. It will take time, of course, but there is no doubt that you will see a difference.
