Helpful Tips So You Can Create a Baby Skin Care Routine

By Annalyn Seppler

Lots of parents think that baby skin care is a myth and that a baby’s skin stays healthy without any help. These parents seem to assume that a baby has an easier time of fighting off acne and other conditions than an adult does. After all, babies have lots of time before puberty hormones set in and they have to worry about acne or other problems. The truth is that a baby’s skin does need special care to stay clear and healthy.

This is why it is important to develop a baby skin care routine early on in your child’s life. The earlier on in life you start teaching your child the importance of caring for his or her skin the better prepared he or she will be for fighting acne and other issues when they get older. Here are some tips for developing your own baby’s skin care routine.

Did you know that you don’t need to bathe newborns and very young infants every single day? Believe it or not, most young infants and newborns stay fairly clean. They don’t get dirty because, for the most part, they are immobile and depend on Mom and Dad to get around. Because they are immobile, a baby’s parents are easily able to control what a baby can get into. Baths only need to be given two or three times each week if you keep your newborn son or daughter’s face clean. When babies learn to crawl and walk, however, you need to give them baths more frequent.

When you shop for baby skin care products read the ingredients carefully. Dyes, phthalates, parabens and extra fragrances should be avoided. These are all ingredients that have been known to cause things like rashes and other skin conditions. You don’t want to accidentally irritate your child’s skin when your main goal is to keep it clean! Choose skin care products that won’t irritate your baby’s skin. If you want to be very careful, before you go shopping again, ask your pediatrician for some suggestions.

Newborns need specific skin care products and one best approach can be taken from reading the hydroxatone reviews. A good rule of thumb is to use newborn products until your baby is six months old and then you can use the products that are good for older babies. A newborn baby’s skin is still developing and learning to deal with life outside of Mom’s womb. The skin is super sensitive and easily irritated, unlike older babies’ and toddler’s skin which has had time to thicken up. Before you buy new products make sure that what you want to buy is newborn-friendly.

There are many different ways to care for your newborn’s skin. Honestly, though, caring for your baby’s skin doesn’t need to be very hard. If you buy the right baby skin care products and use your good judgment, your baby’s skin should be relatively problem-free. Don’t forget that there is more to baby skin care than caring for your baby’s face. Caring for your baby’s skin will depend on your making a lot of smart decisions all day long, but don’t freak out! Before you know it, taking care of your son’s skin will feel like second nature. It won’t take long for it to become second nature. It will simply be automatic!
