Fitness can mean anything from cardiovascular health to muscular development. In order to embark on your journey in fitness it is important to define your goals. Once those have been established its time to start focusing on how to obtain the more specific goals. This article offers some advice.

Fit in some stretching exercises when you are sitting at your desk at work. It is not good for your body when you sit at your desk for hours without getting up. Every 60 to 90 minutes, if you can get up and stretch for five minutes, you can increase the circulation in your muscles and prevent muscle cramps.

A great tip to help recover from a hard workout is to lightly work out the same muscles the following day with much lighter weights. Use about 20 percent of your normal weight and perform a couple of sets of 25 reps. This will supply more blood to your muscles which will help repair them faster.

Learn how to stretch your hip muscles. To properly perform squats, your hip muscles need to be loose. If they are not, you will not achieve proper form! Stretch these muscles by grabbing a sturdy towel bar and lowering your bottom almost to the ground several times. Make sure you do this slowly, or you may cause an injury.

A great fitness tip for people who want to get better glutes is to use the stair master machine or simply walk up and down a flight of stairs. Walking up stairs are great for getting a nice toned rear end. Just be careful walking down as it can affect your knees.

Try adding set-ups to your workout regimen for a stronger core. This type of exercise actually increases your range of motion and causes all of your core muscles to work harder for a longer period of time. Avoid doing them with anchored feet, though, as that can harm your back.

Looking to increase muscle mass? Use simple math: multiply the total weight of your current sets by the amount of times you lift each set. Your goal is to increase that total number as much as possible. This can be achieved by adding more weight, increasing the number of repetitions, or by adding on additional sets.

Test your maximum to make it seem easier. Take a few seconds to lift a weight you know you cannot handle yet. When you lift it, have a spotter, and set it down immediately. Afterwards, work out using the weight you had originally planned on, and it will feel much less cumbersome!

As you can see from the tips in this article, there are several things you can do right now to get going with a fitness plan that is right for you. These tips will help you realize your fitness goal before you know it. Pick one or two tips and start today.
