How To Burn Off The Chips And Beer From Super Bowl

Behind Thanksgiving Super Bowl Sunday is the day we consume the most calories. It is practically a holiday in America with us all getting together with friends and family to cheer on a team we simply “settle” on if our team doesn’t make it to the big game.

I feel bad for the people that have to wake up and be at work early after a day of football tailgating and beer drinking, some even will argue that Monday should be an official holiday.

Get ready to read some crazy stats on just how much food Americans will be consuming this Super Bowl. Americans will consume 11,000,000 pounds of potato chips, 1.25 billion chicken wings and 50,000,000 cases of beer!

The game will beheld in Lucas Oil Stadium this year, and just to paint a pictures, that’s enough beer to fill the stadium half way!

Now you’re wondering okay, great… but how many calories does it break down to? Just sitting in front of the game snacking, you’re likely to eat around 1,200 calorie. Since that is just snacks, then you have to think about the meals you eat during the day, the beers and other drinks, and of course the desserts (what’s Super Bowl without cupcakes) and you’ll be lucky to go to bed having had under 3000 calories.

Which means Monday should hold the name “Super Bowl Damage Control Day”. Now it’s time to burn off those calories of chips, dips, buffalo wings, pizza, etc. Sure one day of poor eating isn’t going to hurt you but those calories can add up in the long run.

Before Monday rolls around here is something I recommend for Sunday morning, workout before your party, start with an interval fat burning workout that only last 20 minutes but burns fat 10 times more than steady state boring running and it will help you make smarter food choices later on in the day.

But then on Monday, be ready and excited to do a bonus workout which is going to have two pieces: cardio and strength training. The strength training will help boost your metabolism for hours if done right with big moves like lunges, push-ups, squats, etc. The cardio should be intervals because they are so efficient at burning off fat and not other tissue like lean muscle mass… one way to do them is to sprint full out for 10 seconds then rest for 45 and repeat for a total of around twenty minutes… by the end of both workouts you could burn close to what your extra food was.

In terms of your diet for the day, eat extremely clean for the next few days with lots of fruits and even more veggies, if you have left over chips take them to the office or toss them out.
