How To Find Therapeutic Massage Redmond OR

By Noemi Callahan

Finding the right therapeutic massage Redmond OR doesn’t have to be a difficult process. You may have never had a massage before and are unsure of what to look for in an establishment. Educate yourself by asking a few simple questions and take the guess work out of the process.

The best place to start is by asking friends, family or co-workers. Often your family physician can recommend a good massage therapist as well. Do you know why you want a massage? Are you needing tension relief in certain areas, or have you injured yourself playing sports? You might just want to take some time for yourself and relax after a long week at work. Identify the why and then ask who.

Deep tissue massage is generally the best treatment for chronic tension areas. Be aware that if you are dealing with great tension in certain areas and you do receive a deep tissue massage you will often be sore afterward. The massage therapist will target the chronically tense area with heavy amounts of pressure and slower more focused strokes on those muscles effected. Generally if you have areas that are tense and require deep tissue massage, more than one treatment is recommended.

You may be wanting to have a massage simply for relaxation purposes. Aromatherapy massage is a great choice for this outcome. Aromatherapy massage combines essential oils with slower strokes and not as pressure focused as other types of massage. Many establishments will refer to these as vacation massages. They set a mood in the room with lighting and background music often instrumental with nature sounds to allow you to let your mind take a trip to a far away place during your massage. A vacation massage allow you the opportunity to not only relax your body but your mind as well.

The style of massage that we see advertised more often now is hot stone massage. It is exactly what it sounds like. Hot, smooth stones placed on your muscles to loosen the muscles and create a more relaxed body. The warmth of the stones combined with light pressure make this a massage style that is suitable for the novice massage recipient.

Standing on your feet all day can cause some real strain on many parts of the body. Reflexology is a great way to relieve the pain associated with this type of stress. We can incur far more problems when we are on our feet for long periods of time than many people realize. Because of this our body systems and organs can be effected adversely. Reflexology, which is often referred to as a foot massage actually focuses on pressure points that will help alleviate some of the issues our body systems and organs can experience.

Although you may hear of professional athletes receiving sports therapy massage, it is not just for the pros. Anyone who exercises frequently, plays any type of sport or is considering playing sports or beginning an exercise regimen can benefit from sports massage. The sports massage will also generally include stretching to increase flexibility to help prevent injury. If not to prevent injury, then to help repair damaged muscle and tissue to decrease the risk of more serious damage.

When you are researching which massage therapist to use be sure to ask the therapist or the establishment you contact which types of massage are offered and explain to them what you are wanting the massage for. If you have good open communication when booking the appointment you are likely to receive exactly the service you are looking for and will want to return to that therapist for further appointments. Select someone you are comfortable with. If you aren’t comfortable with a certain therapist, don’t give up. Talk with the therapist afterward and express why you may not have been completely satisfied. You may need to consider a different type of massage or you may need to see the massage therapist several times to really receive the full benefit of the massage.

Word of mouth for these types of services can go a long way in helping you to make a more educated and informed decision. Ask the person referring why they like the establishment or therapist they are recommending. Ask how frequently they have used this person for massage. The more questions you ask the more information you have to achieve having a wonderful massage experience that leaves you wanting more.
