Cosmetic dentistry is a major player in the whitening of teeth. Nowadays, there are more people that are seeking to make their teeth whiter and more appealing.
Because of this demand for teeth whitening, the field of cosmetic dentistry has taken huge steps to make this more accessible to everyday people. This has led to a number of different teeth whitening products hitting our stores.
You must always check that the whitener is the right one for you and that it will not harm your teeth. Tooth sensitivity is a big issue, but having said that, many of the products profess to be suitable for all sensitivity types.
Another thing to check for is that you pick the right color for your teeth. I know what you are thinking! The color is white, but the shade may be slightly lighter or darker than you imagined. Over the years, your dentist will have taken great care of the shade of your crown or veneer on your teeth. So this whitener really must match up with this color to look right.
This is where the professional teeth whitening from dentists comes in very handy. At least with their specialized techniques that they employ, you will be guaranteed that your teeth are all the same shade.
That is not to say that the home whitening products are not as good. They may be of equal quality to those used by the dentists, but it could just take you a little bit longer to achieve the result you wanted.
Although the product is called teeth whitener, it may not be as bright a white as you are expecting. But if you are considering whitening your teeth, then any shade change will look better than the one you are unhappy with.
Then you have to try to maintain this level of whiteness, otherwise your teeth will just go back to their original shade. You may need to curtail the amount of teeth staining beverages that you drink, such as tea or coffee. Not smoking may also help in maintaining your new color.
