How To Source A Vegetarian Protein Diet.

By George Plaza

The body needs protein in order to function properly. Muscles, hair and fingernails and most of our bodies are for the most part made up of protein. Protein comes in a variety of types and from different sources. While meat is a major protein source, vegetarians can source protein from a vegetarian or plant protein diet.

A good source of protein is found in soybeans. The amount of protein in meat is roughly equal to that found in soybeans. Most other foods have some protein in them.

Soy products come in a variety of forms. Tofu, milk, hot dogs, ice cream, burgers and mince to name a few. This caters to a wide range of tastes. There are people who are intolerant to soy and they would need to explore other methods of consuming protein.

Protein soy powder and tofu may be added to soups, stews and stir-fries. Imitation cheeses, meats, lunch meats, burgers and hot dogs are available. Many restaurants offer veggie options on their menus.

For breakfast, you can try protein powder or soy milk added to your cereal. Soy milks come in many flavors and you can drink it just like that as a healthy drink along with your meal, or just as a supplement.

Vegetables such as beans are great protein sources. Beans are lovely used in soups (split peas and lentils), stir-fries, salads and many other dishes. Baked beans are cheap and tasty and can be eaten on their own.

Increase your intake of beans and sea vegetables. A spirulina supplement will go a long way to making you strong and healthy.

Nuts are very high in protein. They taste great and include: almonds, peanuts, black walnuts and cashews. Rice cakes and crackers are nice with peanut butter.

Salads and snacks are enhanced with seeds. Seeds make for a good snack as well. Increase the libido by taking pumpkin seeds. Sunflower seeds and sesame seeds are also good protein sources.

Fruit is important in a vegetarian protein diet. Supplements like Protein drink mixes are a fantastic source and it’s readymade. This will ensure that good health is maintained.
