How To Use Exercise To Release Endorphins While Using The Runners High

Is there an exercise that will release endorphins? It is a known fact that exercise will do such a thing, but the question is which one is the best and which ones always delivers on its promises?

The answer is yes there is. However what is this high that exercise tends to occasionally delivers a high? The runners high is a feeling where you experience feelings of intense mindlessness and joy. It is a state of euphoria. The hormone responsible for this are called endorphins. Endorphins are hormones that the body tends to excrete or release in the course of and immediately after an exercise session. It has drug like or morphine like properties which makes you feel high This phenomenon is usually experienced during extended or lengthy runs and that is why it is called the “runner’s high”-this is an euphoric experience that runners get 30 to 40 minutes into a run. The runners high for most is a myth. Runners hear about it but very few experience it first hand. The reason why it is so elusive is that it is not an objective feeling and it is an experience that cannot be experienced or called at will

The reason for this is that the runners high is a spiritual and mental experience as well. It occurs when there is an absence of a mind or ego to record it. That is why when we look for it we can’t seem to get it. The looking for the runners high involves the strengthening of the ego which tends to eliminate the exercise endorphins

So while the best exercise for endorphins is running we need to find methods to help us weaken the ego as we run. Therefore it is safe to say that the runners high is directly related to the absence of the ego as we run.

Several men and women use meditation as an easy method to acquire the runners high but meditation is not good enough for the simple reason that meditation itself requires the mind or the ego which is the very obstacle to the runners high. This is because meditation requires the use of an ego. True meditation means the absence of the ego. True meditation also means a mindless state where there is no one meditating. When you are actively meditating you need a meditator and there is a triad created. The triad is there must be a meditator, meditating and meditation. This only strengthens the ego and not weaken it which is what is needed to experience the runners high

So is there a way to weaken the ego? The best way to weaken the ego is to become aware of your surroundings. You must become aware when you run. Fact is, most runners run on autopilot and are unconscious as they run, and their run is therefore mechanical. To achieve the runners high you need to run like a child, with no mind and no purpose. Then and only then will the runners high be achieved. Look at how children run. Children run loosely, they have no method to their run. They run with arms swinging and strides playful and aimless. You have to learn how to run like a child and the first step is to run like a child is to run for fun or run with no goal in mind. You want to forget about losing weight, family issues; you also want to forget about achieving the runner’s high. When you run you need to be hopeless and goalless. If you do this the runners high will be achieved
